Activity
We will take the Javelin railway from St Pancras for a new coastal walk for the group, a 10-mile walk from Dover to Deal including the White Cliffs of Dover. This walk starts with views of Dover Castle and then climbs to South Foreland Lighthouse on the cliffs. This was the location of Marconi's first ship to shore transmission. On to the White Cliffs and expansive views along the coast and to France. Walk is on top of cliffs till slow descent before Walmer. Former coastguard station now tea shop for lunch with picnic tables outside. We can explore Walmer Castle, built in Tudor area as "Castles of the Downs". Walk continues along beach promenade, passing Deal Castle (third castle of walk), to Deal Pier with lots of venues for post-walk fish and chips by the sea.
