Activity
Our 10-mile linear walk takes in the orchards and villages of the garden of England with two historic houses on route. We head south from Borough Green and pass typical Kent hamlets with some oast houses and oak woods. We reach the ancient village of Plaxtol and its rare Cromwellian church. We then head south via the Japanese garden and manor at Fairlawn. We reach the perfectly preserved medieval moated manor house of Ightham Mote. We can visit the interior for a view of the Tudor furnishings and art works. Tea shop here for lunch. Our route continues through orchards and blossom-filled woods before reaching Knole Park. Knole House is a Tudor palace, the ancestral home of the Sackville family. It has 365 rooms and 12 staircases. It is surrounded by the surviving medieval deer park. Last leg is to the town of Sevenoaks with several pubs and cafes on the high street.
