London's Lost Rivers: The Tyburn

Activity

We will trace the original path of the ancient Tyburn River originating in Hampstead and finishing in Pimlico by the Thames. Our 6-mile walk will take in Regents Park, Marylebone High Street, Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, St James's Park and Pimlico. We will play walking detectives, searching out drains, ponds and a hidden conduit right in the heart of the West End. Nick has researched the route and will explain about the historical and architectural features on route. We will end at a riverside pub.

Refreshments

Lots of possible vendors on route. There will be a half-way stop and the obligatory pub stop at the end.

Travel

Finchley Road is on Metropolitan and Jubilee lines. Pimlico is on Victoria line.

11:00am prompt outside Finchley Road Station, postcode NW6 3BS

Finish

Around 5:00pm at Pimlico Station, postcode SW1V 2JA
