Activity

Our 7-mile circular walk is to the French renaissance-styled chateau of Waddesdon Manor, the creation of the Rothschild magnate in 1883. The walk to Waddesdon follows footpaths through the Buckinghamshire countryside of woods and meadows. Waddesdon has a priceless collection of the highest quality French furniture and decorative arts in its 45 rooms. The paintings include great works by Reynolds, Gainsborough and a fabulous collection of the works of the 17th century Dutch masters. After the tour we will have lunch in the gardens, full of seasonal delights and a Rococo-styled aviary. Dogs can be taken into the gardens. The return to the station is via the newly opened Waddesdon Greenway following Akeman Street, the Roman road to St Albans.
