Activity
18-mile circular cycle ride from Uxbridge taking in Grand Union Canal, Colne Valley, hidden villages around Heathrow and new developments transforming the area. We are meeting for breakfast at the cycle hub in Uxbridge, the Rusty Bike Café. We head south via Grand Union Canal towpath with detour through Drayton Green heritage area, history mural at station and the old mill. We then take the Colne Valley Cycle route through Iver, passing a typical roadside transport café featured in several crime dramas. Lunch stop at the historic coaching inn, the Ostrich, in Colnbrook. The village has several coaching inns as it was the first stopping town after London in the pre-railway era. We then head on to the uniquely preserved village of Harmondsworth with tithe barn and village green. Route then via cycle paths, Little Britain lake and canals back to start. Ride suitable for hybrid or off-road bikes.
