Activity

This challenging 18-mile circular walk takes in three hills around Brighton, each with an Ordnance Survey trig point on the summit. Walk starts at Brighton Station, where we will strike out immediately towards the sea. Then head east to the marina before going back inland to the fringes of the South Downs and making the first ascent of the day to the trig point at Red Hill. Dipping down and back up we will shortly reach the second trig point of the day at Mount Pleasant. Dropping down into an urban area to the the South East, we then face the second major climb of the day, concluding at Balsdean Reservoir. We will skirt behind the ominously named High Hill and descend to a farm, then finally making the last and highest summit of Telscombe trig point (413ft). It's all downhill from here! We now work our way steadily towards the coast... and pub, where a 45-minute break is planned at The Smugglers Rest. After refreshment it's Westward Ho! and approximately 7 miles of relatively flat shoreline walking back to the start point. There will be an option for those who want to stop and take a turn on the pier. Or carry on back to the station. Good walking shoes or boots needed.

Refreshments
