Winter Solstice Sunrise and WalkDate: Sun Dec 21st Organiser: Steve R Cost: Free (quarterly surcharge payable by casuals) Activity: Early start from the mausoleum at the top of West Wycombe Hill to watch sunrise (08:07) on the shortest day of the year. Here's hoping we have some sun. Then walk via Downley into High Wycombe for full cooked breakfast etc about 10am in Castle Cafe, 57 Castle Street, High Wycombe. Our route returns north a little via Hughenden Manor, then Downley back to West Wycombe. Option to extend a litte further via Cookshall if interest. Total distance around 9 miles. Possibility to meet for drink etc in Wycombe on Sat night and stay local for those who don't fancy early start. Refreshments: Bring snacks and water, plus money for breakfast Travel: From Harrow take A40 west, exit J4, take A4010, after about 10 minutes leave at Pedestal Roundabout, then through West Wycombe village, turn right into Chorley Road, park in free car park on left in garden centre Start: West Wycombe Garden Centre car park entrance, 7.45am.
