Wimbledon Walk and Loy Kratong Festival

Activity: A 6 mile circular walk from Wimbledon station and back (pace is 2mph approx). Terrain relatively flat. There is a climb up and down Wimbledon Hill at the start and end. Comfortable trainers / walking shoes are required. Route takes in St Mary's Church, Wimbledon Park Heritage Trail, some interesting old Victorian and Georgian architecture, the pretty Wimbledon village and the first Thai Buddhist temple in London, built in traditional Thai style, one of only two outside Asia.
Refreshments: Bring water and packed lunch etc. We can have a picnic on the beautiful temple grounds. Loy Krathong Festival is celebrated here today, with authentic Thai food sold from stalls in the car park.
Travel: Wimbledon station (Tube-District line/Rail/Tram-Route 3). London bus routes 57, 93, 131, 156, 163, 164, 200, 219, 493 and night route N87. Zone W1 street parking restrictions: Monday-Saturday 8.30am-6.30pm (not sure about Sunday). Cost £2.50 / entire stay on Sun 8.00am-6.00pm (free outside these hours) at multi-storey car park on St Georges Road (2 mins from Wimbledon station).
