Stone to Thame and back
Date: Sun Mar 11th
Organiser: Steve R
Cost: Free (quarterly surcharge payable by casuals)
Activity: 20 mile walk, home made countryside route, last walked (from Thame) by Steve three years ago. Route will take in Haddenham, Upper Winchenden, Ashenden and Long Crendon villages. Pace 3mph so should finish by 6pm. Mainly flat. Joint with Chilterns2030s.
Refreshments: Plan is to stop for lunch in Thame, 30 minutes ish, will be a few cafes and shops. Probably quick tea stop late morning in Haddenham and another mid afternoon. Suggest bring packed lunch, snacks and water. If you want a cooked/served lunch in Thame then you will need to complete this within 30 minutes or very close to.
Travel: Start point is Stone, a village near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. By car, assume an hour's drive from north west London. Suggested route is to head north to join the A41 near Elstree, then west on the A41 to Aylesbury, then take the A418 south west to Stone. Public transport not really an option. You will need to find somewhere to park in Stone, suggest you allow 10 minutes (i.e. find a side road).
Start: 10:00am prompt at entrance to St John the Baptist church, Church Way, Stone, HP17 8RG
Finish: Around 6:00pm at start point
