Lakeland Fells
Date: Fri-Fri Nov 4th-11th
Organiser: Keith
Cost: Accommodation: £105pp based on the 6 people currently attending. £92pp if 1 additional person attends, £81pp if 2 additional people attend. Food and travel not included (£10 event surcharge payable by casuals).
Activities: Weather permitting, Keith intends conducting walks ascending the Lakeland Fells. These are demanding walks but you are, of course, welcome to do your own thing. There are many beautiful walks around the valleys and lakes in the area which are less strenuous. Walks which Keith intends to do include Scarfell Pike, Troutbeck Round and St Sunday Crag and Fairfield. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us than last year but you will require good waterproof clothing and suitable walking boots.
Refreshments: The accomodation is a self-catering cottage with a fully fitted kitchen. Coniston has small grocery stores for food purchases and a number of pubs serving excellent food. Ambleside is a small town 20 minutes drive away and has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Windermere (25 minute drive away) has a superstore. Packed lunches will be required for the day walks.
Travel: Return train fare to Windermere at £88 return (as of Aug 30th). Keith is willing to pick people up from Windermere in the evening. Car sharing possible - to be organised nearer the date.
Accommodation: We are staying at Fairsnape - a lovely cottage located in the vilage of Coniston with views of Coniston Water. The two remaining places are in twin bedded rooms.
