This means you will probably have to pay our surcharges to attend our events. Surcharges apply to most of our events and must be paid in advance of attendance (see below). As a non-member though you should be aware that attendance of our events is at the discretion of the Chair and committee; payment of our surcharges does not automatically entitle you to attend.

Casuals may be past members and people who attend a few times a year but do not want to join. The latter includes family and partners of members.

We have two surcharges, one for quarterly attendance on our part or whole day events (QS) and one for individual attendance on our multi-day events (ES). The QS allows attendance at all events such as our day walks/cycle rides, monthly Hall Evenings etc. for one payment within each quarter. Note for one QS payment you can attend all QS events within that quarter. The ES allows attendance at one specific event such as a weekend/week away. Exceptionally some of our day events may have an ES and these are therefore not covered by the QS. Our surcharges are clearly stated, prefixing events on our programme.

A quarterly surcharge (QS) which allows a casual to attend all our events prefixed QS within the relevant year quarter; these start in October, January, April and July. The QS will be at least equal to ¼ price of our annual membership charge. The current price for the QS is £10. Click here to pay the surcharge for the current quarter.
An event surcharge (ES) which allows a casual to attend a specific event. These events are prefixed ES and the price will depend on the event. If the event surcharge is £10 then it can be paid here (for other amounts, please email the Chair or Treasurer at ) and you will be informed how to pay.
Payment of any surcharge does not entitle the casual to any of the benefits of membership.

Events without QS or ES have no surcharge.

Exceptions may be made to allow casuals to attend without paying our surcharges. These are at the discretion of the Chair and committee, please email the Chair at and state why you wish to attend and not pay our surcharges. Exceptions may be given for the following reasons:

Ex-members who are around only for a short time (a few months maximum, maybe now living too far away to attend) may be allowed to attend some group events without paying our surcharges.
Non-members may be excused an ES if there is benefit to the group by their attendance. This could be when a fixed price has been paid for accommodation that is not filled by members and their attendance reduces the price per person, or they have special skills/experience of benefit to group members on an event.

Casuals are not allowed to use our group email for private benefit.

Everyone attending our events is subject to our rules.
