Cambridge City Break

Date: Fri-Sun Oct 16th-18th

Organisers: Brian G and Rob

Cost: £32 for 2 nights including breakfast. Deposit of £10 required to reserve place (£10 event surcharge payable by casuals).

Activities: This trip will be a cultural activity break in the wonderful Cambridge countryside, taking in all the famous sites and enlightening ourselves once more. On Saturday we will do the "Rupert Brooke walk", from Shelford to Cambridge via Grantchester, stopping at the Orchard for tiffin. The Orchard was popularised in the 1900s by Brooke, Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster. We may have a special guest appearance by a former member reciting her poetry. On Sunday Rob is arranging a tour of the college grounds plus a punting trip on the Cam and a short bike ride if time.

Refreshments: Hostel has full meal service and self-catering options. Lots of pubs/cafes and shops in town.

Travel: Regular direct service from Liverpool Street to Cambridge - useful for those working in central London on Friday afternoon. Otherwise car share to be arranged.

Accommodation: YHA Cambridge, 97 Tenison Rd, Cambridge CB1 2DN
