New Forest

Date: Fri-Sun Jul 10th-12th

Cost: £39 per person. £10 deposit (balance payable by June 14th) (£10 event surcharge payable by casuals)

Activities: A weekend in the beautiful New Forest area. Keith will lead a 12-14 mile walk on the Saturday (he will also plan a shorter walk for those who would prefer something less demanding) and a 6-7 mile "stroll" on the Sunday. The New Forest is a delightful mix of woodland and heath with free roaming ponies, deer and sometimes pigs! Other options in the area include cycle rides, pony trekking and visit to Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Refreshments: Hostel can provide cooked breakfast, and also has self catering facilities. Burley has 2 local country pubs serving meals as well as liquid refreshments and 2 local tea room that provide lunches and cream teas. For those wanting greater choice the larger towns of Christchurch, Bournemouth, Ringwood, Brokenhurst and Lyndhurst are all within 15-20 minutes drive.

Travel: By train: from London Waterloo to Brockenhurst regular trains every 15-30 minutes - journey time approx 1hr 45mins. 15 minute taxi ride from Brockenhurst to Burley. By car: from Harrow 95 miles. From M25 take M3 and M27 to A31 and after 7 miles take slip road then 1st exit at roundabout. Follow signs to Burley pass Burley School on left and past golf course for 1/2m to crossroads. Follow signpost to White Buck Inn and turn left into Cott Lane

Accommodation: YHA Burley, Cott Lane, Burley, Ringwood, Hampshire, BH24 4BB. 1 x 4 bed and 1 x 6 bed room have been reserved at Burley youth hostel although if sufficient early demand it may be possible to increase this.
