Boxhill Walk

Date: Sun Jun 14th

Organiser: Steve N and Ken

Cost: Free (quarterly surcharge payable by casuals)

Activity: 11 mile circular walk passing around Westhumble, through Ranmore Common to the edge of Bookham then back to Boxhill via the village of Mickleham. The greater part of the walk is through woodland, also with good views towards the river Mole. There will be some demanding climbs, so you need to be reasonably fit. Clothing should include waterproofs and boots as it can be muddy. Something warm also if the weather is poor.

Refreshments: Advisable to bring a packed lunch and drink. There is a pub at the village of Mickleham, but this is fairly near to the end of the walk so we may well need to stop for lunch before we get there. Steve and Ken will however advise later if they do food.

Travel: By car: from M25 junction 9, pick up the A24 via the A243 at Leatherhead. Travel down the A24 towards Dorking. Turn off onto the B2209 at the roundabout near Westhumble adjacent to a hotel and just before Burford Bridge, go down the B2209 approx a quarter of a mile to turn off to a right into the zig-zag road/track which leads to the Boxhill Counry Park Information Centre (after a couple of zig-zags!). Parking costs TBC. Nearest stations are Dorking and Deepdale, both of which are in Dorking. The stations are about 1 to 2 miles to the start point of the walk and uphill! Train times to be confirmed later. Please contact Steve N or Ken should you require a lift from Harrow or if you need picking up from the stations in Dorking.

Start: 10:00am prompt at National Trust Information Centre at Boxhill Country Park, by fort cottages. Postcode KT20 7LF.

Finish: Around 4:00pm
